BLUE BELL, PA (MARCH 31, 2022) –  Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia (KAAGP) is excited to celebrate their 50th anniversary and the grand opening of the 13th Office of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia.

On April 30, 2022, KAAGP is hosting “Korea in Philly.”  A full day celebration at The Montgomery County Community College Health Sciences Building.  The program will consist of a 5k walk/run, Korean food to be sampled, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, a fashion show of traditional Korean attire, an exhibition of a traditional  Korean wedding ceremony as well as many other exhibitions.

Several local guests and leaders who serve in the political, business, and non-profit sectors will be in attendance as well as over 40 Korean American Associations.  A few committed associations are the Korean  School Association, the Korean Beauty Supply Association, the Korean Athletic Association, the Korean Dry Cleaners Association and much more.

This event will showcase our proud heritage and re-introduce the Korean American community for the general public. In 1970, the first-generation Korean immigrants led and established the KAAGP.  Since then, we have been a part of numerous community events with the census efforts throughout the region in 2020 and mobilizing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. KAAGP helped make and distribute 46,000 masks and assisted businesses in the  wake of the riots that took place. We are excited to continue building the relationships that help contribute to Greater Philadelphia.

KAAGP’s vision is to strengthen our community relationships moving forward for the future. This event will impact the 80,000 Korean American community members living in the Philadelphia area and introduce Korean culture to the American public.

We are thankful to our many sponsors including the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Bureau, Jefferson Health, PA Wellness and Health, the Korean Overseas Foundation, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, and the National Association of Asian American Professionals.
