Woosung Jung – Traditional Daegeum Korean Flutist

Woosung Jung is an accomplished traditional Korean musician who has inherited Daegeum Jeongak, a Korean Intangible Cultural Heritage tradition. A versatile performer, he plays a wide range of Korean wind instruments, including the daegeum, sogeum, danso, and taepyeongso, as well as traditional percussion instruments such as the janggu and buk.

Specializing in the daegeum, one of Korea’s most distinctive traditional wind instruments, Jung brings to life its deep, resonant tone and expressive character. Through his performances, he shares the richness of Korea’s musical heritage while introducing audiences to the depth, beauty, and diversity of traditional Korean music.

Currently active throughout the New York and New Jersey area, Jung has performed at numerous distinguished venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Jordan Hall. His performances reflect both a deep respect for Korean musical tradition and a commitment to sharing this heritage with audiences across generations and cultures.

Woosung Jung will perform at Korea in Greater Philadelphia – Happy Chuseok Fest 2026 at the Montco Cultural Center Theater, bringing the evocative sound of the daegeum to this special celebration of Korean culture, heritage, and community.
